If you cannot tell by now, I love avocados! Not only are they one of the healthiest foods you can eat, but they are delicious and versatile when it comes to plant-based meals. You can even bake with avocados as a base. Before getting into the recipe as always I want you to know why you should be eating avocados. You may know they are good for you, but do you really know why?
To begin with avocados are an excellent source of fiber. Fiber is great for your digestive health and immune system. Avocados help your body to process nutrients from plant-based foods. What better way to help your body get the nutrients it needs! Avocados also contain lutein which is good for your eyes and can help prevent eye degeneration with age. As with most vegetables and plant-based diets avocados are no different and they to help to prevent cancer within the body. Last, but definitely not lease avocados can also help aid in weight loss. These are just a few of the many benefits this amazing vegetable has to offer. So, now that you know some great reasons you should be eating avocados let’s get into this delicious avocado sauce recipe!
When you begin to eat plant-based its only so many vegetables and fruits, so you do have to become creative with your dishes. What I love about this one is that it can be used with so many different vegan and vegetarian dishes. This sauce is completely vegan by the way. Winning! I have used this sauce on tacos, veggie bowls, veggie burgers, burritos, breakfast dishes, and more. This vegan avocado sauce could easily be used as a dip as well. When I say this is simple, it is simple.
To begin get a blender, food processor, or if you have a magic bullet that is best for a creamier sauce. That is what I used for this version. If you choose to use a food processor it will be a lot thicker. I will do a separate post on that to show the difference.
Put all ingredients into the magic bullet or what you choose to use, and blend.
Yes that’s it!
When I made this I made a quinoa bowl and put some of this delicious sauce on top.
- 2 ripe avocados
- juice of 1/2 a lemon
- 1/2 cup vegan mayonnaise
- 1 tsp hot sauce
- 1/4 cup Extra virgin olive oil
- 3/4 tsp sea salt
- 1/2 tbsp black pepper
Scoop out the inside of the avocado.
Place all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. If your sauce is thicker than you would like you can add a small amount of water until its consistency is at your liking. Enjoy!
